Boy, You’re Gonna Carry that Weight a Long Time…

Dear SA:
My partner of many happy years wants to sell our apartment and buy a more expensive brownstone in NY. He has done all the math and it all works on paper (rental income, the asset itself). However, I am in my 50′s and am entering a part of life where I want fewer commitments not more (except him). He sees this as a good move for our future. I see it as a two ton anchor for a ship we have not built yet.
Anchors Away

Dear AA:
The anchor could be the beginning of a great new journey.  Fewer commitments isn’t the issue — it’s the nature of the commitment.
Discuss with your partner why he wants to do it and see if you can’t catch a buzz.
